Winning artistic design of an open-call “Light for Subway” competition for the subway station Florenc, Prague

In the spirit of exploring the connection between human civilization and technology, the installation in Prague’s Subway station Florence creates a visual metaphor of urban transport as the city’s nervous system. The city, a living organism, a hive of human consciousness, processes its nervous system through subways, trams and buses, on which its citizens, luminous neurons, transmit their stories and thoughts along light-enlivened synaptic connections with shadows of mystery in its corridors and arteries.

These tracks move humanity through the urban landscape, creating a complex network of connected roads and trails. Florenc, the backbone of Prague, the crossroads of destinies where people’s stories collide and public transport lines cross, the place where you transfer between stations and life stages, creates the biggest synapse in this organism. Synapse — functioning on the basis of electric discharges and their transmissions, thus synchronously completes the entire poetics of the light work, which could not function without electricity.
